Senior Software Engineer, R&D (AI Robotics)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. Occasional travel of up to 10%.

What you will do

• Develop new approaches for manipulation problems in real-world robotics systems.
• Train and adapt machine learning architectures for robot learning and visual scene understanding.
• Improve the robot policy learning data collection application.
• Assess demonstrations, robot logs, sensor data, annotations, and failure cases for fine-tuning robot foundation models.
• Prototype solutions and create demonstrations for stakeholders and visitors.
• Own solutions from prototype through robust, production-ready implementation and collaborate with external research partners.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Software development experience in robotics or automation roles, including designing, implementing, and troubleshooting software for real robots.
• Strong Python and C++ development expertise.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and ROS or ROS2.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize technical work, and rapidly iterate on challenging problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience in robotics or automation.
• Computer vision for robotic manipulation, motion planning and optimization, or imitation learning.
• Experience with PyTorch, robot simulators such as Isaac Sim or MuJoCo, and robot learning frameworks such as Orbit, Isaac Labs, or OpenAI Gym.
• Experience with RGB and depth sensors, model-based and data-driven approaches, Docker, cloud computing, distributed systems, or asynchronous programming.
• Production robot deployment and agentic coding tools experience.
