TL;DR
Senior AI Engineer (LLM/RAG): Building production-grade AI capabilities for a modern defence command-and-control product, with an accent on LLM integration, agentic workflows, evaluation, and scalable software delivery. Focus on designing reliable AI features for real operators, researching emerging architecture patterns, and mentoring engineers on TypeScript and Python implementation.
Location: London, UK; hybrid work with at least 1 day per week in the Shoreditch office

What you will do
- Design, build, and deploy production-grade software integrating AI into complex real-world defence use cases.
- Research and apply RAG, agentic workflows, evaluations, fine-tuning, and LLM orchestration patterns.
- Translate product requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions with Product Managers and cross-functional specialists.
- Ensure the reliability and scalability of AI-powered features used in demanding operational environments.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient TypeScript and/or Python code.
- Mentor engineers and embed AI engineering tools and practices into the team’s workflow.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience developing products involving AI or LLMs.
- Proven experience deploying AI in a production software environment.
- Strong understanding of RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, evaluations, and LLM orchestration.
- Strong generalist software engineering background with proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
- Experience researching complex technical topics, solving difficult problems, and mentoring or teaching others.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Vetting to at least SC level.
Nice to have
- Experience with C++ or Rust.
- Familiarity with defence, Military Modelling and Simulation, or command-and-control systems.
- Interest in travelling to customer deployments, hackathons, and industry events.
