Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Location: Remote from Mexico, including Mexico City, Cabo San Lucas, Cancún, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, and Monterrey

Salary: MX$950,000–MX$1,250,000 annual base compensation, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and operate scalable backend systems for booking flows, payments, and customer-facing workflows.
• Support hirify.global Pro, embeddable scheduling and booking flows, and enterprise customer products.
• Design and operate complex agent orchestration systems and develop patterns for human-agent collaboration.
• Ship product features through agent-assisted development with engineering colleagues.
• Improve system performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders while owning work from conception through production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional development experience with Elixir; Elixir experience is required.
• Strong backend fundamentals in API design, data modeling, SQL, service reliability, debugging, and system design.
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases.
• Daily production use of AI coding tools and the ability to critically review AI-generated code for logic, security, and maintainability issues.
• Experience with peer reviews, unit testing, continuous integration, and TDD.
• Experience with on-call rotations and willingness to support occasional production issues outside work hours while on call.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with message queues such as RabbitMQ.
• Experience with B2B software, booking flows, or the travel industry.
