Prior Authorization and Benefits Verification Expert (Behavioral Health)

What you will do

• Work with ABA, behavioral health, mental health, IOP, and psychiatric testing providers and their billing teams.
• Collect accurate patient information, verify eligibility and benefits, and communicate authorization decisions.
• Complete and follow up on prior authorizations through insurer portals and direct calls to payors.
• Manage multiple authorizations simultaneously and create processes that support accurate, timely performance.
• Apply knowledge of ABA and behavioral health workflows, including treatment plans and re-authorizations.
• Share workflow insights with Product and Engineering teams to help automate verification and authorization processes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience completing prior authorizations for ABA or other behavioral health services.
• Strong understanding of insurance policies, ABA billing, eligibility, deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket costs, and benefit exclusions.
• Experience using payor portals and calling insurance payors.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, independence, urgency, work ethic, and multitasking ability.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with provider software and electronic medical record systems such as CentralReach or Rethink.
• Prior authorization experience in behavioral health services beyond ABA.
