Bedded Insurance Authorization Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Remote - Nationwide (United States)

Salary: $17.00–$18.65 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Verify patient insurance eligibility, active coverage, benefits, policy dates, limitations, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.
• Review patient visit information and payer-specific criteria to determine whether authorization is required.
• Prepare and submit clinical documentation supporting treatment appropriateness and medical necessity.
• Obtain, verify, maintain, and follow up on initial and subsequent insurance authorizations.
• Review visit data for accuracy and ensure appropriate providers and covered services are used.
• Reduce authorization denials while meeting an expected accuracy and quality rate above 95%.

Requirements

• Experience working with insurance companies and/or medical authorizations.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance authorization requirements, contract benefits, CPT codes, and medical terminology.
• Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage stressful situations, multiple tasks, online insurance eligibility systems, and pre-certification systems.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification required within nine months of hire; certification is company-paid.

• Hospital experience.
• Associate degree in Medical Assisting or Practical Nursing.
