Software Engineer (React/Node)

Location: Onsite in the Washington, DC office

Annual salary: $120,000–$210,000

What you will do

• Build and ship vertical product features across React/Next interfaces, Node handlers, SQL and Mongo queries, and AWS deployments.
• Design high-performance workflows such as instant search, real-time diffing, collaborative annotation, and version comparison.
• Partner with design and product management on feature scoping, experiments, and measurable customer outcomes.
• Instrument dashboards, structured logs, feature-flag rollouts, and blameless post-mortems.
• Promote product craftsmanship through Storybook-driven UI, shared design tokens, and coaching-oriented code reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a full-stack software engineer.
• Professional experience building React/Next and Node/TypeScript applications.
• Ability to work with SQL, Postgres, Mongo, Docker, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CDK.
• Ability to use LLM coding tools including Claude-Code, Cursor, or Codex.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with search indexes or vector databases for RAG and semantic workflows.
• Knowledge of SSR and ISR patterns in Next 14’s app router.
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and AI-driven feature development.
• Experience with D3, Recharts, Slate, or TipTap.
• Prior experience in a startup organization.
