Senior Exploratory QE Engineer (Fintech)

What you will do

• Design and run structured exploratory testing charters for new features, APIs, and high-risk platform areas.
• Investigate complex payment and card lifecycle flows to uncover edge cases, state issues, race conditions, and integration gaps.
• Collaborate with automation engineers to determine what should be automated and feed exploratory findings into regression coverage.
• Plan release testing based on product and technical risk, identifying the areas most likely to fail.
• Investigate production incidents and near-misses, closing gaps in test coverage.
• Develop exploratory testing practices, including charters, session-based test management, heuristics, and reporting.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering or testing on complex, business-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of exploratory testing, session-based test management, charters, and heuristics.
• Ability to reason about APIs, logs, databases, and system architecture to identify root causes.
• Working knowledge of test automation practices and effective collaboration with automation engineers.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including actionable bug reports and risk assessments.
• Ability to work autonomously with accountability for quality outcomes in a regulated, security-conscious environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with payments, card issuing, banking, or regulated fintech.
• Experience testing API vulnerabilities.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Postman, and CI/CD pipelines.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
