Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid

Base salary: $184K–$230K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own meaningful features and services end to end, including design, development, deployment, and production operations.
• Build and make architecture decisions across AI and agent logic, backend services, product systems, and supporting data.
• Lead and mentor small engineering teams.
• Align stakeholders across product, design, data, and engineering.
• Write well-tested, observable code and improve engineering quality through reviews and pairing.
• Break ambiguous healthcare product problems into shippable work while making pragmatic trade-offs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 6+ years of industry experience.
• Experience leading small teams of engineers.
• Strong engineering skills with end-to-end ownership of backend services, APIs, and related code.
• Experience with testing, deployment, and observability in production.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and communicate effectively across product, design, and engineering.
• Genuine interest in improving healthcare within an interdisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, TypeScript, React, or Flutter.
• Experience with AI/LLM product systems or agents.
• Experience with healthcare data or another high-trust, regulated domain.
• Mobile development or experience connecting mobile clients with backend systems.
• Experience shipping early-stage or fast-moving consumer products.
