Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, hybrid

Base salary: $184K–$230K, plus equity

hirify.global is a small healthcare technology team building an AI health coach for people and families managing chronic conditions.

What you will do

• Own meaningful features and services end to end, from design and implementation through production deployment and operation.
• Build and make architecture decisions across AI and agent logic, backend services, APIs, product systems, and supporting data.
• Lead and mentor small engineering teams while raising engineering quality through reviews and pairing.
• Align product, design, data, and engineering stakeholders around shippable solutions.
• Write well-tested, observable code and make pragmatic trade-offs when solving ambiguous product problems.
• Protect privacy and security while handling sensitive health data responsibly.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 6+ years of industry experience.
• Experience leading small teams of engineers.
• Strong engineering skills across backend services, APIs, and end-to-end feature ownership.
• Experience with testing, deployment, and observability in production.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration across product, design, and engineering.
• Genuine interest in improving healthcare within an interdisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, TypeScript, React, or Flutter.
• Experience with AI/LLM product systems or agents.
• Experience with healthcare data or another high-trust, regulated domain.
• Mobile experience or experience bridging mobile clients and backend systems.
• Experience shipping products in an early-stage or fast-moving consumer environment.
