  • Integrate prototype systems combining lasers, optics, fiber optics, electronics, software, and precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform optical characterization and metrology covering power, phase, frequency, polarization, stability, and noise.
  • Troubleshoot optical and opto-mechanical systems and conduct root-cause failure analysis.
  • Develop and document optical test plans, characterization procedures, engineering work instructions, and test reports.
  • Collaborate with optical, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers and scientists to transition technologies into production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience with optical systems, laser systems, and optical laboratory environments.
  • U.S. Person status is required: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be Chinese or Russian nationals unless also U.S. citizens.
  • Knowledge of optical and electrical laboratory equipment, optical instrumentation, and test equipment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with free-space and fiber-coupled optical or electro-optical systems, fiber fusion splicing, fiber handling, and precision opto-mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with optical design and mechanical CAD tools such as Zemax or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of optical frequency noise reduction, active optics, closed-loop control, PLM, engineering change processes, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work in a research and manufacturing environment supporting prototype development and production readiness.
  • Participate in sustaining engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, equipment guidelines, and production quality standards.
