Staff Network Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Menlo Park, California or Bellevue, Washington; the role also references Dublin. International travel may be required for short-term site builds.

Salary: $160K–$210K annually.

What you will do

• Own and operate the Zscaler platform, including ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC, policy frameworks, application segmentation, traffic forwarding, App Connector topology, and log streaming.
• Troubleshoot secure-access incidents involving tunnels, brokers, connectors, SSL inspection, DNS, and DTLS, and lead root-cause analysis.
• Manage Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, and GlobalProtect VPN while supporting Aruba wireless, Ekahau, and Cisco Catalyst switching.
• Design and configure network devices and ISP circuits for new offices and troubleshoot AWS, Azure, and GCP network constructs.
• Build automation, dashboards, alerting, and proactive detection using network telemetry and log analytics in Snowflake.
• Author runbooks and escalation procedures, participate in on-call rotations, and lead responses to major network incidents.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of enterprise network infrastructure experience, including 3+ years designing and deploying Zscaler ZIA/ZPA at scale.
• expertise in Zero Trust and SASE architecture, including ZTNA, proxy/SWG, SSL inspection, and cloud security.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto, PAN-OS, GlobalProtect, Panorama, enterprise VPNs, Aruba wireless, and Cisco LAN/WAN networks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TLS/DTLS, BGP, QoS, and multi-cloud networking.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, site-to-cloud connectivity, Python scripting, APIs, log observability, ITSM, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Zscaler, Palo Alto, Aruba, or Cisco certifications.
• Experience migrating legacy VPNs from GlobalProtect to ZPA.
• Familiarity with SASE, network-as-code, and Terraform.
• Experience in high-growth SaaS or cloud-native environments.
