Staff Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud & Infrastructure)

Location: San Mateo, California, or the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area; regular on-site presence required. Occasional travel to other offices, engineering sites, and data centers may be required.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, administer, and optimize Active Directory, identity services, DNS, authentication, and Group Policy.
• Engineer enterprise compute, virtualization, storage, Windows and Linux server platforms across offices, data centers, colocation facilities, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Design backup, replication, disaster recovery, business continuity, monitoring, and infrastructure resiliency solutions, including RTO/RPO planning and testing.
• Develop infrastructure automation and repeatable deployment patterns using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
• Support integration between on-premises infrastructure and AWS or Azure, including containerized, Kubernetes-based, GPU, and specialized engineering workloads.
• Lead infrastructure projects, resolve critical incidents, define standards and documentation, partner with Cybersecurity and Network Engineering, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience engineering and supporting enterprise infrastructure in production environments.
• Advanced Microsoft Active Directory experience, including AD DS, Group Policy, DNS, authentication, and replication.
• Strong experience with enterprise compute, virtualization, and storage platforms, plus Windows Server and Linux administration.
• Experience designing backup, replication, disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure automation, and hybrid on-premises/AWS or Azure environments.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives, establish standards, troubleshoot ambiguous problems, communicate clearly, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-availability, mission-critical, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or engineering environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, GPU compute, high-performance computing, or VDI platforms.
• Knowledge of infrastructure networking fundamentals, security-conscious or regulated environments, NIST or CMMC controls, and relevant technical certifications.
