Senior Software Engineer (Network Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid in Mountain View, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, California, USA

Estimated base salary: $180,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate the multi-cloud network foundation across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
• Own hybrid and on-premises connectivity using VPNs, BGP, Cloud Interconnect, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
• Develop Kubernetes networking with Cilium, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, and service mesh technologies.
• Run edge infrastructure including load balancing, DNS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, and rate limiting.
• Implement network security, zero-trust access, segmentation, encryption, and policy-as-code aligned with HIPAA and SOC 2.
• Build network observability and automation using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Hubble, Terraform, Crossplane, and Argo CD.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in cloud-native networking or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/UDP/ICMP, BGP, IPsec, NAT, stateful firewalls, VLANs, bridges, TUN/TAP, and connection tracking.
• Experience with public cloud networking across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
• Experience with Kubernetes, CNI, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Experience designing VPN and site-to-site connectivity, routing, traffic engineering, network security, and performance troubleshooting at scale.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Mountain View, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with kernel network tuning, DNS infrastructure, data center networking, and hybrid environments.
• Contributions to CNCF networking projects such as Cilium, Envoy, or Istio.
• Experience with Batfish, containerlab, network testing, or regulated industries involving HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI obligations.
