Staff Network Engineer (Cloud/SD-WAN)

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, United States; office-based

Salary: $134,500–$214,700 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Plan, design, implement, and support complex LAN and WAN systems across extranet, commercial, and corporate environments.
• Troubleshoot complex network problems and provide third-level technical support to network teams and client institutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, account managers, security teams, network support teams, vendors, and third parties on end-to-end implementations.
• Create and maintain network design documentation, operational runbooks, and continuous-improvement processes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for performance and cost benefits, including participation in change, incident, and problem management.
• Lead development, testing, QA, technical briefings, and training to support secure project delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing, planning, documenting, and implementing LAN and WAN environments.
• Experience with cloud service provider ecosystems such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, and with SD-WAN technologies.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and common application protocols, plus experience with high-availability, load-balanced, n-tier application environments.
• Experience leading complex global projects from development through implementation and resolving complex network and systems issues.
• Ability to produce technical infrastructure design and build documentation and communicate technical and business solutions to multiple audiences.

Nice to have

• Cisco certification or a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Engineering.
• Python and Ansible experience.
• ITIL certification and experience in infrastructure or network environments.
