Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Internship - US Government

Location: New York, NY; on-site work is required from an office, with willingness to travel to client sites as needed. Travel of 25–50% is preferred, depending on the team and location.

Salary: estimated at $10,000 per month; total compensation depends on qualifications, work experience, skills, and other factors, excluding benefits and potential long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand complex operational problems and design data-driven solutions.
• Own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects in small teams with minimal supervision.
• Discuss architecture with engineers and work with massive-scale data.
• Build custom web applications and apply technical tools to solve customer problems.
• Communicate with customer executives and establish strategy for the team.
• Collaborate with FDSEs, product teams, Deployment Strategists, and other technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Willingness to undergo a US government background investigation when required by US government projects.
• Engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar.
• Must be planning to graduate in 2028; this must be the final internship before graduation.
• Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal direction.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical people in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives and iterative work with users.
• Interest in creatively solving technical problems involving data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
• Interest in using large-scale data to solve valuable business problems.
