Senior Ground Software Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of hirify.global's headquarters. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

Base pay range: $130,000–$198,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own major portions of the architecture for web-based ground software platforms supporting spacecraft operations.
• Partner with flight software developers, mission operations personnel, and systems engineers to translate mission needs into scalable ground system designs.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize the hirify.global Ground Data System for diverse mission profiles.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and reliability frameworks to detect and mitigate operational issues.
• Provide technical direction on mission resilience, system integration, maintainability, and long-term architecture.
• Advise leadership on ground software strategy, technical risks, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Experience architecting web-based software systems at scale.
• Strong systems-level thinking and the ability to balance performance, security, and maintainability trade-offs.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one is required.

Nice to have

• Active TS clearance.
• Full-stack development experience with Python, Golang, Rust, TypeScript, Angular, InfluxDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Playwright, FastAPI, microservices, distributed systems, database architecture, CI/CD, Kubernetes, OAuth, or CCSDS standards.
• Aerospace experience supporting satellite, spacecraft, constellation, or launch vehicle ground and mission operations.
• Leadership in end-to-end system design and delivery with engineering teams.
