Senior Applied AI Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia; the role description also states that the position is based in Singapore and includes customer travel.

Salary: A$135,000–A$360,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead software engineering workstreams for enterprise customer deployments, owning architecture, implementation quality, evaluation strategy, and production readiness.
• Build production-grade AI applications, agents, and workflow tools using LLMs, retrieval, orchestration, APIs, data systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Lead technical discovery and translate customer workflows and business requirements into reliable AI systems.
• Guide engineers through ambiguous technical problems, reviewing designs, code, trade-offs, and operating assumptions.
• Prototype quickly and turn successful approaches into reusable reference architectures, platform components, and delivery assets.
• Design evaluation and monitoring approaches and share deployment insights with Product and Research.

Requirements

• Senior software engineering experience building production applications and microservices.
• Experience with APIs, scalable data pipelines, data systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for building enterprise data applications.
• Production experience with LLM systems, including agents, retrieval, evaluation, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model integration.
• Experience leading projects from prototype to production and making standardization-versus-customization decisions.
• Ability to write code, review designs, mentor engineers, and communicate clearly with executive, product, research, customer, and engineering stakeholders.
