Junior Technical Writer

Location: Onsite in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States; regular travel to the San Luis Obispo, California location is required.

hirify.global is an e-commerce company, how-to instruction publisher, tool maker, and public advocate focused on making repair the default rather than replacement.

What you will do

• Disassemble consumer electronics, power equipment, and other serviceable devices.
• Photograph and document every step of repair and disassembly procedures.
• Edit photos to match the hirify.global visual style and pair them with clear repair instructions.
• Moderate community-contributed repair guides, edits, and updates.
• Contribute to additional content, including blog posts and product teardowns.

Requirements

• Strong interest in tinkering, fixing, and working with tools.
• Ability to write clear, meticulous instructions for people without repair experience.
• Above-average mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Basic knowledge of photography and excellent grammar and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate precisely and collaborate with coworkers.
• Ability to work locally from the Chattanooga office and travel regularly to San Luis Obispo, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
• Experience using a DSLR camera.
• Knowledge of consumer electronics and emerging technologies.
