Technical Writer (EV Hardware)

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Research and produce technical documentation for hardware and software, including owner's guides, service manuals, and accessory guides.
• Create scalable, topic-based content that can be translated into multiple languages and adapted across products.
• Document product assembly, use, servicing, newly released features, and technical procedures.
• Partner with engineering, support, testing, marketing, product management, technical illustrators, and other writers.
• Develop illustrations and video integrations, and publish content in print, PDF, web-based, and mobile formats.
• Manage revision control, translation, file management, and continuous improvements to documentation quality and usability.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of technical writing experience in a complex hardware and software product environment.
• Experience documenting product-level hardware assembly or installation, including torque specifications.
• Knowledge of topic-based and structured content and information architecture principles.
• Exceptional written English proficiency required for accurate, concise, and logical documentation.
• Proficiency with XML or HTML authoring tools such as Flare or oXygen.
• Strong organization, prioritization, investigation, editing, and teamwork skills while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• MadCap Flare experience.
• Basic knowledge of photography and image-editing tools such as Photoshop, GIMP, or Illustrator.
• Experience with CMS, LMS, TMS, JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.
• Experience in bicycles, EVs, or consumer electronics.
• Knowledge of CE, EN, ISO, UL, or other regulatory and safety standards.
