Manager, Quality Operations Engineer

Location: Hanover, Maryland, United States; onsite fulfillment center role with 50% of time spent on the warehouse floor in cold environments of 36°F and below

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage, coach, and mentor the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor while leading warehouse-floor audits of picking, packing, shipping, and sanitation.
• Investigate picking errors, damaged goods, and customer complaints, using defect metrics and trend analysis to reduce recurring failures.
• Establish inbound acceptance and rejection criteria for fresh produce and shelf-stable goods in partnership with Inbound and Inventory Control.
• Lead CAPA, validation, process optimization, change management, and continuous improvement projects across Operations, Merchandising, and Logistics.
• Own SOPs, work instructions, document control, e-QMS deployment, and WMS improvements including photo documentation and lot traceability.
• Prepare quality performance reports, support mock recalls, and maintain readiness for customer, third-party, FDA, USDA, state, and SQF audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement, or Process Engineering within manufacturing, food production, or high-volume fulfillment.
• Strong data analysis and Statistical Process Control skills, including experience with Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, or Tableau.
• Experience with project management methodologies and knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
• Familiarity with FDA, USDA-AMS, FSIS, GFSI, and FSMA regulations; HACCP and SQF Practitioner certification.
• Ability to work 50% of the time on the warehouse floor in cold conditions and communicate technical quality requirements clearly to warehouse associates.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
• Experience implementing or maintaining SQF, BRC, or ISO 9001 systems.
• Spanish language skills.
