TL;DR
RF & Signal Processing Engineer (RF, DSP): Designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying RF, wireless communications, sensing, navigation, and spectrum systems with an accent on signal chains, antennas, digital signal processing, and software-defined radios. Focus on modeling RF systems, developing detection and classification techniques, integrating hardware and software, and field-testing systems for Canadian defence applications.

Location: Ottawa, Canada — on-site

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, and optimize RF systems, signal chains, antennas, and wireless communication systems.
  • Develop DSP algorithms for communications, sensing, navigation, spectrum monitoring, and signal analysis.
  • Model, simulate, test, troubleshoot, and analyze the performance of RF systems.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing with spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and SDRs.
  • Support prototype development, system integration, verification, system bring-up, and transition to low-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams and prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in RF engineering, wireless communications, signal processing, radar, electronic warfare, satellite communications, navigation, spectrum monitoring, or related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of RF propagation, antenna theory, electromagnetics, communication systems, and DSP.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, ADS, CST, HFSS, or similar engineering tools.
  • Experience with SDRs and wireless communication systems, plus knowledge of signal detection, classification, direction finding, geolocation, and spectrum analysis.
  • Comfort working hands-on with prototypes, laboratory equipment, and field test systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded systems, FPGA development, or machine learning applications for RF systems.
  • Experience with RF power amplifiers and PA MMICs, including matching, tuning, and testing.
  • Familiarity with modulation schemes, digital radio systems, ADCs, DACs, RFSoCs, and SDR architectures.
  • Defence industry experience is not required.
