TL;DR
Staff Electrical Hardware Design Engineer (Space): Designing and bringing complex, high-reliability PCBAs from concept through flight readiness for mission-critical space systems with an accent on analog and digital electronics, environmental constraints, and satellite electrical systems. Focus on board bring-up, verification planning, radiation mitigation, manufacturing scale-up, and root-cause analysis of flight and test anomalies.

Location: Onsite at the Louisville, Colorado office; San Francisco, California is also listed as a position location. Travel up to 10%, domestic or international.

Salary: $145,920–$192,047 annual base salary.

Company

hirify.global develops integrated quantum computing, networking, sensing, and security solutions; Capella delivers secure, mission-ready intelligence through space systems, advanced sensing, and next-generation compute.

What you will do

  • Own the complete electrical design lifecycle for complex spaceflight hardware, including requirements, schematics, layout, bring-up, testing, and manufacturing handoff.
  • Develop robust analog and digital designs for mission-critical systems operating under thermal, vacuum, vibration, and performance constraints.
  • Lead board-level bring-up and debugging while integrating firmware, software, FPGA, and embedded systems.
  • Define verification strategies and test plans, conduct design reviews, and drive failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
  • Support the transition from prototypes to low-volume production, including DFM/DFT reviews and collaboration with contract manufacturers and vendors.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and coordinate with mechanical, RF, software, FPGA/SoC, systems, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and debugging PCBAs, with proficiency in Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory instruments.
  • Knowledge of digital buses including I2C, SPI, UART, RS422, CAN, USB, PCIe, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with harsh-environment design, high-speed or impedance-controlled layouts, EMI/EMC validation, and satellite electrical systems.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control and ITAR requirements: be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee/asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Basic Python or C scripting and automation for hardware test workflows.
  • Experience with radiation effects and mitigation in electronic design.
  • Knowledge of propulsion, electrical power systems, GNSS, ADCS, or space robotics.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative engineering environment focused on rigorous design and mission-critical delivery.
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans with matching 401(k).
  • Unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and parental/adoption leave.
  • Legal insurance and a home technology stipend.
  • Culture of autonomy, productivity, respect, and inclusive opportunity.
