TL;DR
Member of Technical Staff: Firmware, Embedded, and Functional Safety (Robotics) (C/C++): Developing real-time embedded firmware for robotic actuators, sensors, communication interfaces, and safety-critical subsystems with an accent on hardware bring-up, device drivers, and robust production software. Focus on implementing bare-metal and RTOS systems, debugging complex hardware/software issues, integrating industrial communication protocols, and designing functional safety capabilities.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain C/C++ firmware for motor controllers, sensors, power management systems, and other robotic subsystems.
  • Bring up new boards, develop device drivers, validate peripherals, and debug hardware/software issues with lab equipment.
  • Build bare-metal and RTOS-based real-time software for control loops, safety monitoring, timing-sensitive communication, and resource-constrained hardware.
  • Implement and validate EtherCAT, Ethernet, CAN/CAN-FD, RS-485, SPI, I2C, and UART interfaces.
  • Create diagnostics, logging, test utilities, and automated workflows to improve firmware reliability and observability.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, controls, and software engineers on interfaces, system troubleshooting, design tradeoffs, code reviews, planning, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional embedded software experience, including shipped robotics-related products.
  • Strong C/C++ skills for bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded systems.
  • Deep understanding of microcontrollers, onboard computers, sensors, cameras, actuators, motor controllers, and fieldbus communication.
  • Experience with board bring-up, device drivers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with control loops, timing-sensitive communication, fault handling, and safety monitoring.
  • Ability to work across hardware, controls, and software teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with humanoid, manipulation, mobile, or other complex robotic systems.
  • Experience delivering functional safety software and familiarity with IEC 61508.
  • Experience with motor control, power systems, sensor integration, safety systems, or distributed embedded systems.
  • Experience with firmware test infrastructure, CI/CD, diagnostics, logging, OTA updates, or production validation workflows.
