Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: On-site five days a week in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Plymouth Meeting, PA; or Toronto, ON.

Salary: US $150,000–$250,000 or Canada CA$150,000–CA$225,000 annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and scale high-performance, secure, and reusable backend services.
• Develop greenfield capabilities such as fraud signal pipelines, notification services, and intelligent decisioning layers.
• Build systems supporting fraud detection, authentication, risk management, and customer data.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, frontend, mobile, and engineering teams.
• Lead technical and design discussions while driving best practices in system design, coding, testing, and DevOps.
• Optimize intelligent services that protect customers while delivering secure and personalized experiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems.
• Expertise in architecting and productionizing large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to work across multiple technical areas and collaborate with frontend and mobile teams.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with experience building scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Strong understanding of data privacy, compliance, secure coding, resilience, reliability, and regulatory standards.
• Ability to work on-site five days per week at one of the listed US or Canadian locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with lending, credit cards, payments, or other financial services products.
• Familiarity with mobile app ecosystems and financial technology.
