Test Pilot (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; workplace: on-site. Short-notice travel is required for test campaigns, typically 5–10% and up to 50% during flight-test campaigns. U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing is required.

Salary: $135,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and potential year-end bonuses.

What you will do

• Plan and execute taxi and flight operations for the Quarterhorse demonstrator aircraft series.
• Oversee the transition from a remotely piloted system to a fully autonomous system.
• Maintain subject matter expertise on Quarterhorse aircraft.
• Develop ground and flight-test procedures, run cards, and reports.
• Collaborate with engineering staff and technical editors on flight manuals and technical documentation.

Requirements

• FAA transport pilot rating or military equivalent.
• Military or civilian flight-test experience, or graduation from a test pilot school.
• Strong background in aircraft performance calculations and familiarity with stability and control systems.
• Experience writing test plans and test procedures.
• Clear and accurate communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
• U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing under U.S. export-control rules.

Nice to have

• Instructor pilot experience.
• Knowledge of military or FAA airworthiness requirements.
• Flight experience with Group 4/5 UAVs such as Global Hawk, Triton, or Reaper.
• Experience leading others and supporting peer learning in a fast-paced startup environment.
