FPV Test Pilot (Drones)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. The role is primarily field-based, with approximately 80% of the time spent testing and the ability to travel several days per week.

Salary: $91,000–$127,500 USD per year, base salary only. Equity grants may be included in total compensation.

What you will do

• Pilot FPV drones during flight testing and qualification activities.
• Develop deep familiarity with drone systems and aircraft performance.
• Prepare, transport, and operate drone systems and supporting equipment in the field.
• Detect failures and subtle product imperfections during testing.
• Document test activity, collect data, and report findings to FPV specialists and engineers.
• Perform high-volume qualification testing on late-stage engineering products.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience flying acro drones.
• Expertise in acro FPV and line-of-sight flying.
• Technical knowledge of UAV components and experience with Betaflight and ESC software.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to identify subtle performance issues in equipment.
• Part 107 certification.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of FPV experience.
• Blackbox analysis and PID tuning experience.
• Professional FPV piloting experience.
• CAD or drone design experience.
• Experience with cinelifters or large FPV platforms.
