Flight Test Engineer (Multiple Levels) (Autonomous Electric Aviation)

Location: On-site in California, with the role located in Solano or Contra Costa County; regular work in Dixon or Victoria Island, California, plus 1–2 week trips to demonstrations and customer locations.

Salary: $101,000–$174,000 expected total cash compensation per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Maintain continuous operations at local flight-test sites by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with support from engineering teams.
• Conduct aircraft, ground infrastructure, laptop, and battery maintenance, including airframe assembly and airworthiness testing.
• Operate experimental unmanned aircraft as Pilot in Command or Ground Control Operator.
• Lead or participate in ground and flight-test events as Test Conductor or Test Crew member.
• Recommend product features, improvements, and design changes based on operational experience.
• Manage complex logistics for flight operations, customer demonstrations, and aircraft support.

Requirements

• Experience flying fixed-wing UAVs, model aircraft, or large multirotors.
• Experience with ground-control and mission-planning software, data-log visualization and analysis, and aircraft systems and manuals.
• Mechanical and electrical systems experience, including assembly and troubleshooting.
• Basic high-voltage safety knowledge and comfort working with 120 VDC and 20–30 kW systems.
• Familiarity with Linux, command-line usage, and Git.
• Proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish and residence in Solano or Contra Costa County are required. Strong written and verbal communication, independence, attention to detail, and time-management skills are also expected.

Nice to have

• Part 61 pilot certificate.
• Additional experience with manned aircraft or UAV flight operations.
