Junior Embedded Software Development Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Hybrid in Boston, MA; applicants must live within commuting distance of the Boston office and work in the office at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $93,000–$115,900 base pay per year, depending on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.

What you will do

• Contribute to embedded firmware development in C/C++ for hirify.global players.
• Implement scoped features, bug fixes, SDK updates, and partner integrations with guidance from senior engineers.
• Maintain and expand more than 120 Music Service Partner integrations, including new features for music service providers.
• Debug embedded software using logs, traces, reproduction steps, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, product, user experience, and QA teams to deliver reliable releases.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, tooling improvements, CI practices, and incremental refactoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of hands-on C/C++ experience through coursework, internships, co-op, or professional work.
• Exposure to embedded systems or firmware development.
• Familiarity with memory constraints, concurrency, and real-time behavior.
• Experience with version control such as Git or Perforce.
• Must be authorized to work for any US employer now and in the future; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience debugging on-device software, investigating performance, and working with logs or tracing.
• Familiarity with APIs, protocol-level interactions, and basic networking.
• Experience with code reviews, CI tooling, and collaborative engineering teams.
• Interest in audio, music, and consumer devices.
