TL;DR
Quantum Device Engineer (Silicon Spin Qubit): Developing and validating silicon spin-qubit devices across nanofabrication, cryogenic measurement, and electrical characterization with an accent on multi-layer thin-film processes, nanoscale device architectures, and reproducible manufacturing. Focus on designing and iterating device structures, performing transport experiments under cryogenic conditions, and building scalable process-control and laboratory workflows.

What you will do

  • Design and fabricate silicon-based spin-qubit devices using advanced nanofabrication tools.
  • Develop process flows and recipes for multi-layer thin-film stacks, semiconductor heterostructures, and nanoscale device architectures.
  • Improve process reproducibility and yield by identifying bottlenecks and implementing structured process-control methods.
  • Perform optical microscopy, SEM, AFM, electrical characterization, and transport experiments at room temperature and under cryogenic conditions.
  • Collaborate with theorists, device physicists, materials scientists, and systems engineers to translate system requirements into hardware solutions.
  • Contribute to experimental strategy, roadmap planning, architecture decisions, documentation, and cross-disciplinary technical communication.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience with the ability to independently design, fabricate, and iterate nanoscale device structures.
  • Experience with electron-beam lithography or photolithography, thin-film deposition, and wet and dry etching.
  • Experience with semiconductor processing, preferably on silicon-based platforms.
  • Experience with electrical characterization of nano-devices and experimental validation.
  • Familiarity with cryostats or dilution refrigerators, plus proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of transport measurements, charge sensing, RF reflectometry, and quantum device characterization.
  • Experience building systems and processes from scratch in a fast-paced environment.
  • Publications, patents, or equivalent scientific or technical contributions.
