Salary: $100,000–$140,000 USD per year

What you will do
- Lead materials and process development projects from concept through technology readiness level 7.
- Research, experiment with, and evaluate candidate materials and manufacturing processes.
- Build and test proof-of-concept prototypes to support technology development proposals.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, production, and supply chain teams on cost reduction, performance improvement, scalability, and make-versus-buy strategies.
- Support selection of manufacturing equipment and transition ownership of developed technologies to production teams.
- Prepare development proposals covering business needs, plans, risks, costs, and return on investment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering or another engineering field.
- At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or high-rate production, with a strong background in new product introduction.
- Experience with materials and processes such as metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, filament winding, automated fiber placement, molding, casting, welding, coating, electroplating, forging, stamping, or metal additive manufacturing.
- Experience scaling production, integrating new products, and driving cost reduction.
- Experience with materials laboratory techniques including optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis.
- Ability to write detailed technical reports, communicate findings, use analytics for process improvements, and persist through repeated project failures.

- Familiarity with FAA Part 21 production requirements and quality systems.
