Senior Revenue Accountant

Location: Hybrid role in Herndon, Virginia, with on-site work 2–3 days per week; candidates should live within approximately 50 miles of the office. Applicants must have the right to work in the United States.

Salary: $116,500–$159,100 USD base salary, plus bonus plans and benefits.

What you will do

• Review contracts for compliance with ASC 606, including atypical revenue recognition provisions.
• Prepare month-end close schedules and reports for accurate revenue recognition.
• Manage capitalized commissions, including incremental contract costs, accounting entries, amortization schedules, and documentation.
• Reconcile deferred revenue and capitalized commissions across the general ledger, Xactly, and supporting systems.
• Lead process improvements, support external audits, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve close-related issues.
• Use advanced Excel to analyze large datasets, build models, and automate reporting.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of related accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of revenue accounting, ASC 606, and capitalized commissions.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and financial data.
• CPA license strongly preferred or actively pursued.
