Senior Accountant (SaaS)

Location: Remote across the United States; offices available in Austin, Texas and San Francisco, California.

Base salary: $100,000–$110,000 USD per year, plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements and variance analysis while improving close speed, documentation, automation, and controls.
• Own marketplace and SaaS revenue accounting for guest bookings, host payouts, subscriptions, usage, and payment processing under ASC 606.
• Reconcile Stripe, bank, and partner activity to the general ledger and oversee AP, AR, expense management, payroll entries, and payouts.
• Coordinate audits and tax compliance, including income tax, sales and lodging taxes, 1099s, and multi-state registrations.
• Build scalable finance systems and use AI tooling for reconciliations, flux analysis, and documentation while partnering with Product, Engineering, Operations, and external advisors.

Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of accounting experience, including significant ownership of a monthly close at a high-growth company.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606, with the ability to research technical accounting questions and document defensible positions.
• Hands-on experience with a modern general ledger such as NetSuite or QuickBooks Online, close and reconciliation tools, and Stripe or similar payment processor data.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills; SQL is a plus.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting policies to finance, engineering, and leadership stakeholders.
• Demonstrated fluency with AI tooling in finance or operations and the ability to work autonomously in a high-ambiguity environment.

Nice to have

• CPA or equivalent; Big 4 or public accounting experience.
• Experience in travel, hospitality, vacation rentals, property management, or two-sided marketplaces.
• Experience with US sales and lodging tax compliance, payments, money transmission accounting, audits, financings, or systems migrations.
• Entrepreneurial experience or a history of early-stage startup work.
