Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada; primarily North American time zones with 4+ hours of overlap with the Eastern Time Zone. Optional office access is available in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.

Salary: $265,000–$290,000 USD annual base salary, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Build and evolve an internal software factory where engineers and non-engineers describe desired outcomes and the system realizes them.
• Integrate AI coding tools, virtualized environments, CI, AI code reviewers, evaluations, prompts, and model optimization into a cohesive internal product.
• Improve the ergonomics, latency, and cost of production development systems.
• Define success metrics and iterate based on real usage and feedback from engineers.
• Increase the impact of engineers and product managers through developer experience systems.
• Set technical direction and raise engineering standards across teams through technical influence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with developer tools and build environments, open-source developer tooling, or low-level systems.
• Passion for building elegant, maintainable tools that improve engineering productivity.
• Staff-level autonomy, technical direction-setting, independent trade-off decisions, and the ability to develop other engineers.
• Comfort working in a high-trust, high-ambiguity environment without close supervision.
• Ability to work from the United States or Canada and maintain the required Eastern Time Zone overlap.
