Developer Experience Engineer (AI)

Location: Vancouver, BC headquarters; hybrid work in Vancouver; remote work available in Canada or the United States. Sponsorship, immigration, and relocation support are available for exceptional candidates.

Salary: CA$160,000–CA$220,000 in Vancouver; CA$160,000–CA$215,000 for remote Canada; US$175,000–US$225,000 for remote US, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build internal tools, templates, scripts, and workflows across development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, and code review.
• Lead practical AI adoption by evaluating tools, designing usage patterns, creating examples, and supporting safe use in software delivery.
• Partner with product engineers to identify bottlenecks, prioritize improvements, and measure effects on speed, quality, and developer satisfaction.
• Create and maintain golden paths for service creation, environment setup, recurring development tasks, and release processes.
• Improve documentation, onboarding, self-service support, and automation to reduce repetitive work and manual handoffs.
• Contribute production-quality code and collaborate with platform, product engineering, security, and data teams.

Requirements

• Experience building internal developer tools, platform tooling, engineering productivity systems, CI/CD workflows, or comparable infrastructure.
• Strong software engineering skills in at least one modern programming language, with experience across scripts, services, APIs, and developer-facing integrations.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools, coding agents, workflow automation, or AI applied to software delivery.
• Ability to turn ambiguous developer pain points into experiments and shipped tooling improvements.
• Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.
• Clear technical writing and documentation skills for internal engineering audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with developer portals, service templates, internal platforms, Backstage, or similar self-service tooling.
• Experience in fintech, marketplace, or regulated technology environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, containers, cloud platforms, or deployment automation.
• Experience creating engineering playbooks, enablement programs, or AI adoption guidelines.
