Quality Engineer - Off Shift (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Flint, Michigan, United States; onsite with full-time reporting to the plant. 3rd shift: 10pm to 6am, with weekend and overtime availability required.

What you will do

• Drive and support problem-solving, containment, corrective-action, and warranty-reduction activities.
• Maintain product quality standards and support BIQ 4 certification and plant quality systems.
• Issue quality alerts, communicate emerging component issues, and coordinate engine quality holds.
• Coordinate repair, rework, containment, controlled shipping, scrap disposition, and cost recovery activities.
• Support APQP, supplier readiness, PPAP, high-risk supplier calls, and engineering work orders.
• Attend production and quality meetings and document concerns through PTR and related processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work onsite on the 3rd shift, including weekends and overtime.
• Experience with PFMEA, PRTS, SPC, GD&T, and Control Plans.
• Strong problem-solving, corrective-action, communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and technical judgment skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of manufacturing experience or previous Quality Engineering experience.
• Experience with engine machining or assembly manufacturing.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and Red X or Six Sigma.
• Red X Apprentice or Journeyman Certification.
• Technical expertise in quality systems and manufacturing processes.
