Backend Engineer (Go/Python)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work required.

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 per year in the Bay Area, plus equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Develop backend systems in Go and Python with backwards compatibility and feature versioning across evolving schemas.
• Build scalable pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and serving petabytes of data using Kafka, Postgres, and ClickHouse.
• Create CI/CD workflows that keep APIs aligned with underlying data schema changes.
• Enable fine-grained querying of historical and real-time network data.
• Collaborate with firmware, frontend, and modeling teams on data and evaluation pipelines.
• Own endpoint performance to meet real-time serving requirements.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing backend systems with Go and Python.
• Experience designing scalable data ingestion, transformation, and serving pipelines.
• Knowledge of Kafka, Postgres, and ClickHouse.
• Experience with CI/CD, APIs, schema evolution, and data compatibility.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in San Francisco.
