Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Location: New York City, United States; flexible hybrid model with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week for most roles.

Salary: $270,000–$320,000 annual base salary for candidates located in New York, New York, plus performance bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and execute a cybersecurity strategy aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
• Lead operational risk management, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and security monitoring.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, audits, certifications, and security requirements for vendors and cloud providers.
• Direct incident response, crisis management, fraud response, and recovery activities.
• Lead secure architecture, cloud, endpoint, network, encryption, access control, and data protection initiatives while remaining hands-on with technical decisions.
• Develop AI and machine learning security policies, governance frameworks, risk assessments, and responsible deployment controls.

Requirements

• Proven cybersecurity leadership experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
• Strong hands-on technical background in areas such as security engineering, penetration testing, cloud security architecture, or incident response.
• Expertise in operational risk frameworks, vendor security, cloud security, encryption protocols, and financial-industry regulatory compliance.
• Experience developing AI security strategies, governance frameworks, and risk assessments for AI/ML systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, including the ability to present to the Board and influence stakeholders across the organization.
• CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification is preferred.
