Equipment Technician (Continental Shift)

Location: Caswell, Towcester, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. Onsite role in a rural fabrication facility with a continental shift pattern: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off, including weekends and bank holidays.

What you will do

• Provide rapid first-line engineering support to minimise equipment downtime and production impact.
• Repair, diagnose faults in, and perform preventive maintenance on lithography, etch, PVD, PECVD, and MOVPE reactor systems.
• Support vacuum, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, RF, gas delivery, exhaust, and abatement systems.
• Manage chemical and specialty gas systems in line with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain critical spare-parts inventory and support OEE and uptime improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to Kaizen, 6S, and 8D activities, documentation, production meetings, and the Site Emergency Response Team.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or at least five years of directly relevant experience maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience in a high-tech, precision-engineering, or other high-reliability environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous gases and chemicals, follow detailed procedures, and prepare risk assessments and method statements.
• Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
• Full UK driving licence and access to personal transport are essential. Candidates must also meet medical and respiratory protective equipment face-fit requirements for SCBA use.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor or cleanroom manufacturing.
• Background in aerospace, defence, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, power generation, or UK Armed Forces technical trades.
