UX Researcher / Usability Engineer Software & Hardware (m/f/d) (Laboratory Software and Hardware): Establishing usability engineering and conducting evidence-based evaluations of software and hardware products with an accent on formative and summative testing, user behavior analysis, and ISO 9241-210 practices. Focus on validating concepts and prototypes, developing usability metrics and standards, identifying risks before release, and evaluating AI-driven and agent-based experiences.
Location: Germany-Waldbronn, near Karlsruhe; hybrid work model with remote and on-site work

What you will do
- Establish and drive usability engineering across software and hardware products and projects.
- Plan and conduct formative and summative usability evaluations aligned with ISO 9241-210.
- Translate user behavior into evidence-based findings, usability metrics, and actionable recommendations.
- Partner with UX designers, Product Managers, R&D, engineers, scientists, and other stakeholders to validate concepts, prototypes, and implemented solutions.
- Develop usability methods, standards, templates, tooling, and frameworks to ensure consistency across products and portfolios.
- Act as a usability quality gate before release and explore AI-supported testing and AI-driven experiences.
Requirements
- Degree in Usability Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, UX Research, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with usability testing, evaluation methods, and user research.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience working with prototypes, software products, hardware interfaces, or complex technical systems.
- Fluent English is required.
- Availability for approximately 10% international travel.
Nice to have
- Experience in life science, medical, or B2B environments.
- Interest in AI-assisted usability engineering and AI-driven or agent-based experiences.
- CPUX or a similar certification.
- Familiarity with agile development processes.
