Company
is launching a laboratory for hands-on engineering education, research, prototyping, and fabrication.
What you will do
- Lead the fit-out and commissioning of a new approximately 16,000-square-foot engineering laboratory.
- Design facility workflows and oversee the installation, ordering, and setup of laboratory equipment.
- Partner with faculty to develop rigorous, hands-on engineering activities for the curriculum.
- Teach engineering, design, fabrication, and testing principles while mentoring students on technical research and individual projects.
- Manage daily facility operations, Bastrop-based staff, contractors, vendors, and equipment upgrade budgets.
- Build relationships with industry partners and maintain a safe, compliant laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, Ph.D., or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM, machining, rapid prototyping, and/or circuit design.
- Experience or ability to manage laboratory operations, equipment, staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Ability to teach engineering principles and mentor students through complex technical projects.
- Commitment to open inquiry and the pursuit of truth.
- Ability to work on-site in Bastrop, Texas, with occasional travel to Austin.
