Applied Engineering Lead

Location: On-site in Bastrop, Texas, with occasional travel to the Austin campus.

hirify.global is launching a laboratory-based engineering facility to support hands-on technical education and applied engineering projects.

What you will do

• Lead the fit-out and commissioning of a new approximately 16,000-square-foot engineering laboratory, including workflows and equipment installation.
• Order, configure, and maintain laboratory equipment for mechanics, electronics, robotics, optics, prototyping, and fabrication.
• Partner with faculty to develop and integrate rigorous hands-on engineering activities into the curriculum.
• Teach engineering, design, fabrication, and testing principles while mentoring students through technical research and individual projects.
• Manage daily laboratory operations, Bastrop-based staff, contractors, equipment gaps, and upgrade budgets.
• Establish safety protocols, training, equipment safeguards, and compliance with applicable OSHA, fire code, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree, Ph.D., or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM, machining, rapid prototyping, and/or circuit design.
