Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Chatsworth, California, United States; occasional travel to suppliers, customers, and additional factory sites.

What you will do

• Own electrical architecture and documentation for robotic production cells and future manufacturing platforms, including schematics, interconnect diagrams, panel layouts, and harness drawings.
• Define interfaces between robot controllers, PLC panels, end effectors, instrumentation, safety systems, and industrial networks.
• Perform power distribution, grounding, bonding, signal integrity, and electrical integration analysis for 480VAC and 24VDC systems.
• Lead supplier relationships for outsourced panels and harnesses, including release packages, deviations, quality issues, and production readiness.
• Design and review control panels, custom PCBAs, and instrumentation while establishing bring-up, validation, inspection, and release practices.
• Lead compliance and machine-safety work, electrical design reviews, certification-body engagement, and mentoring across Mechanical, Robotics, Automation, and Manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of electrical engineering experience with industrial machinery, robotics, CNC, or automation equipment, including ownership across multiple machines or a platform.
• Experience with 480VAC power distribution, 24VDC controls, panels, drives, PLC I/O, safety circuits, grounding, and industrial networks such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, or PROFINET.
• Experience designing electronic systems, devices, instrumentation, and PCBAs, including schematics, bring-up, testing, and validation.
• Fluency in electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or AutoCAD Electrical, with strong documentation and change-control discipline.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR and able to work on-site in Chatsworth, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience with UL 508A, NFPA 79, NFPA 70, IEC 60204-1, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, or ANSI/RIA R15.06.
• Experience with robotic-cell safety circuits, servo commissioning, motion control, KUKA or similar robot controllers, and facility electrical integration.
• Experience scaling machine builds from prototypes to repeatable production and standardizing components and BOMs.
• PCBA layout using Altium, KiCad, or similar tools, plus test fixture and data-acquisition design.
