Security Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, New York, United States; on-site

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own security across the platform, infrastructure, and corporate environment as the first dedicated security hire.
• Harden the AWS environment and build practical, scalable security systems with Engineering and Infrastructure.
• Drive SOC 2 Type II continuous compliance by defining controls and closing gaps.
• Integrate security scanning into CI/CD pipelines and build vulnerability management across infrastructure, applications, and dependencies.
• Implement access controls, detection, monitoring, log aggregation, and SIEM capabilities.
• Conduct risk assessments, respond to security findings, lead post-incident reviews, and improve security policies and procedures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in security engineering, preferably in high-growth SaaS or infrastructure-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience building or maintaining a SOC 2 compliance program.
• Strong knowledge of AWS security services and cloud security architecture, including IAM, VPC, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
• Deep understanding of OAuth, SAML, and OIDC identity and authentication protocols.
• Practical scripting skills in Python or Bash for automating security workflows.
• Clear communication, systems thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work autonomously.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAST, DAST, SCA, container scanning, and vulnerability management in CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of network security, infrastructure-as-code security, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Background in penetration testing, application security assessments, or CTF competitions.
• Experience securing ClickHouse or PostgreSQL and handling data-processing compliance in analytics environments.
• CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, or a similar certification.
