Summer 2027 Internship - Software Engineering (C++)

Salary: $32–$46 per hour, plus a monthly housing stipend and overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement high-performance software systems in C++ and Python with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
• Build backend services and APIs that coordinate control systems, manage distributed hardware state, and support monitoring and operations.
• Develop fault-tolerant coordination systems, real-time data pipelines, observability tools, and deployment infrastructure.
• Contribute to system architecture, design decisions, performance trade-offs, and technology selection.
• Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and science teams.
• Build and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for safe, high-quality software delivery.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and system design.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

• Exposure to distributed systems, observability tooling, or infrastructure as code.
• Experience with Python-based data pipelines, automation, or backend services.
• Experience with C++ performance optimization, profiling, or low-level systems programming.
• Familiarity with Linux system programming, threading models, IPC, or low-level kernel interfaces.
• Exceptional projects, a work portfolio, or completed products.
