Senior Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Union City, California; based onsite at least three days a week. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. No relocation assistance is offered, and visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Salary: $195,000–$250,000 per year, plus benefits and equity.

What you will do

• Lead development and productization of major Fleet Services components for high-availability 24/7 warehouse operations.
• Architect distributed integrations between edge infrastructure, cloud environments, warehouse systems, operator interfaces, and forklift fleets.
• Design logging, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure to improve observability and reliability.
• Investigate complex failures across hardware and software boundaries and implement permanent fixes.
• Own and optimize performance-critical C++ components involving concurrency, low-latency messaging, and resource constraints.
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, mentorship, and collaboration with software, robotics, product, and OEM engineering teams.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping scalable backend components or distributed systems.
• Deep production-grade modern C++ experience in Linux, including systems programming, memory management, and multithreaded debugging.
• Experience with SRE practices, distributed-systems troubleshooting, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with real-time data flows, MQTT, gRPC, WebSockets, and relational or non-relational databases.
• Comfort with Linux internals, shell scripting, Python, Docker, Kubernetes or K3s, and containerized edge clusters.
• Strong communication skills and fluency with AI-assisted development workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics, IoT, autonomous vehicles, or safety-critical industrial environments.
• Experience deploying and managing bare-metal software stacks at the network edge.
• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
