Maintenance Tech I

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; requires daily travel between properties and occasional travel to other buildings or cities.

Salary: $36,026–$43,680 annually, with equity, benefits, and a discretionary bonus potentially available in addition.

What you will do

• Maintain guest rooms and spaces, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, structural features, furniture, doors, windows, and hardware.
• Troubleshoot issues and complete light repairs, periodic maintenance, installations, and handyman work to a high-quality finish.
• Conduct apartment walkthroughs, maintenance checks, and project documentation.
• Coordinate, meet, instruct, and supervise third-party contractors and specialized trades.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following OSHA, ADA, federal, and local requirements.
• Support hospitality operations, guest issue resolution, property onboardings, and building safety activities as needed.

Requirements

• At least two years of operations and/or maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of skilled trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently, take initiative, communicate professionally, and build positive relationships.
• Ability to lift and carry items and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule, including some weekends, reliable smartphone and transportation, and availability to travel between properties daily.

Nice to have

• Certifications in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, operations, or maintenance.
• Construction, hospitality, or operations background.
• Familiarity with Google Suite and multiple mobile applications.
