Head of Legal (Biotech)

Salary: $250,000–$300,000 per year

hirify.global is a biotech company developing organ-scale reversible cryopreservation to preserve donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation and rewarm them for transplantation.

What you will do

• Own the IP strategy across hardware, software, chemistry, and biology.
• Coordinate freedom-to-operate and patentability searches, patent prosecution, continuation strategy, and portfolio development.
• Partner with R&D and engineering to reflect technical iterations in IP filings and risk assessments.
• Lead legal support for FDA interactions, clinical studies, product development, labeling, and commercialization.
• Draft, review, and negotiate licensing, sponsored research, collaboration, and other complex commercial agreements.
• Build the long-term legal function and support governance, financings, partnerships, transactions, board matters, and investor diligence.

Requirements

• JD and 7+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience shaping IP strategy for novel or first-in-class technologies.
• Experience with continuation strategy, claim scope negotiation, and patent portfolio construction.
• Strong technical background and ability to work with engineers, scientists, and inventors on complex systems.
• Experience negotiating complex commercial, licensing, or sponsored research agreements.
• Ability to operate independently as the senior legal owner and translate ambiguous legal risk into strategic options.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotech, medtech, deep tech, or another highly regulated technical domain.
• Prior in-house experience at a growth-stage company.
• Experience working across hardware, software, and biological IP.
• Familiarity with clinical studies, investigational use, or regulated product development.
