Head of Strategic Finance (Quantum Hardware)

Location: Denver, CO or New York, NY, United States

Base salary: $140,000–$220,000 per year, plus performance bonuses and equity options.

What you will do

• Own the financial roadmap, translate growth objectives into financial strategies, and define company KPIs.
• Build operating plans, rolling forecasts, scenario analyses, customer- and unit-level P&Ls, and metrics dashboards.
• Connect technical readiness milestones and R&D stage gates with capital deployment, production timing, and revenue planning.
• Partner with the Controller and executive team on burn, runway, budget variance, operating performance, and corrective actions.
• Analyze hardware unit economics, including cost per system, manufacturing yield, and bill-of-materials trends.
• Lead investor relations, prepare board materials, and build and mentor the internal finance team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience modeling long development cycles, hardware production ramps, and complex revenue recognition across contract types.
• Experience with government contract structures such as cost-plus, FFP, and SBIR/STTR, including related reporting obligations.
• Experience in high-growth technology startups or deep-tech environments and venture-backed financial strategy.
• Ability to translate uncertain R&D timelines and technical milestones into rigorous financial planning inputs.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder-management, communication, and decision-making skills; MBA, CFA, or CPA is a plus but not required.
