Controls Field Engineer

Location: Sterling, VA, United States; field-based regional coverage with up to 25% travel and participation in on-call rotations.

What you will do

• Support the availability, reliability, and daily operation of EPMS, BMS, BAS, and PLC-based control systems across assigned data center sites.
• Perform system checks, alarm reviews, health validations, troubleshooting, approved changes, patches, and minor upgrades.
• Support commissioning, cutovers, energizations, retrofits, point-to-point checks, logic validation, graphics verification, and equipment integrations.
• Read electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and control drawings while validating system hierarchies against physical infrastructure.
• Create and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, control narratives, system diagrams, inventories, naming conventions, and point mappings.
• Coordinate controls troubleshooting with Site Operations, Operational Controls Systems, IT Operations, electrical SMEs, and mechanical SMEs.

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of experience in industrial controls, facilities automation, or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting EPMS, BMS, or BAS platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and practical electrical intuition.
• Ability to work in live, mission-critical environments and support 24×7 operations.
• Ability to coordinate issues across controls software, networking, servers, virtualization, and physical infrastructure.
• Availability for regional field work, on-call rotations, and travel of up to approximately 25%.

Nice to have

• Data center experience supporting 24×7 operations.
• Commissioning or startup experience with electrical or mechanical control systems.
• Experience with Delta, Ignition, Niagara, ALC, Schneider, Eaton, or similar platforms.
