R&D Hardware Engineer

Location: Onsite at the Wilmington, Delaware site, United States

Salary: $116,800–$182,500 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, prototype, and test new products for gas chromatography, automated sample handling, and automated sample preparation.
• Develop mechanical systems for motion control, fluid handling, heated zones, and intelligent laboratory equipment.
• Design robotic systems that transport sample vials and support automated liquid sampling.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, software, and chemistry specialists to create complete systems.
• Work with marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, and service organizations to transition designs into shipping products.
• Develop and document performance measurements that support engineering decisions and product qualification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, cross-functional environment.
• Demonstrated skill and interest in at least two relevant areas, including 3D CAD modeling and drafting, joining and fabrication techniques, sealing technologies, material processing, or material properties.
• Experience with CAD tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo is relevant; familiarity with PDM, PLC, or ERP systems such as TeamCenter, Agile, or SAP is also valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with thermal-fluid systems, tolerance stack-ups, simulation, FEA, CFD, ANSYS, or Simcenter.
• Knowledge of metrology, CMM, SEM, material testing, GD&T, or FMEA.
• Experience controlling experimental hardware with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, VEE, or LabView.
