Staff Software Engineer (Core Systems)

Location: London, UK; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week on site near Angel station

Salary: £130,000–£170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery for a Product Engineering squad and set a high standard for execution.
• Own and evolve the technical architecture of the realtime, streaming, AI-native core automation system.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Data & AI, Customer Success, and Sales leadership on roadmap and delivery priorities.
• Hire, mentor, and develop senior Product Engineers while leading by example as a hands-on engineer.
• Design operating systems that remove bottlenecks, increase velocity, and enable autonomous squad execution.
• Embed AI-native and automation-first practices to improve engineering productivity and throughput.

Requirements

• More than 12 years of engineering experience, including more than 7 years building products.
• Demonstrable experience delivering highly complex products, including realtime products with streaming capabilities.
• Experience integrating AI and exposing it through MCP.
• Strong knowledge of Go; Rust experience is desirable for the role.
• Experience managing multiple senior engineers and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Based in London and able to work from the office at least 3 days per week.
