TL;DR
Backend Team Lead - REM Engineering (Node.js/Python): Building and scaling real-time ingestion pipelines that capture, process, and validate massive crowdsourced data streams from millions of vehicles with an accent on distributed systems, streaming infrastructure, and cloud architecture. Focus on leading backend engineers, designing ultra-high-throughput systems, optimizing latency and availability, and reducing compute, storage, and networking costs.

What you will do
- Lead a backend engineering squad responsible for REM Ingestion.
- Balance hands-on coding, code reviews, architecture, project management, resource planning, and delivery.
- Design and scale real-time ingestion pipelines for crowdsourced data from millions of vehicles.
- Build resilient, low-latency, highly available distributed systems with efficient cloud resource usage.
- Improve data throughput, system performance, and compute, storage, and networking costs.
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience leading, mentoring, and growing backend engineering teams.
- At least 5 years of backend experience building high-scale distributed cloud architectures.
- Hands-on experience with high-throughput streaming and queuing systems such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or RabbitMQ.
- Strong experience with AWS, including EKS, S3, or CloudFront, and containerized workflows using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in Node and/or Python.
- Understanding of high-performance relational and NoSQL databases, plus Data Lake architectures such as Iceberg or Glue.
Nice to have
- Experience with task queues and stream-processing frameworks such as Celery or Spark.
- Background in geospatial data processing or handling.
